Free NEET conference for those out of work and potential employers
Employers and others with an interest in the potential of young people and the high number who are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET) can increase their knowledge of this important issue by attending a free one-off conference which will be held at Petroc Tiverton Campus on Wednesday July 25 from 9.30am - 3.30 pm.
The conference – Engage, Empower, Employ, with NEETs – will be hosted by Petroc, who are lead partners in a European Social Fund/Skills Funding Agency project for Devon, Torbay, Plymouth and Somerset, which aims to engage with young people who are NEET or at risk of being NEET.
Colin Wadsworth, Petroc’s Director for Employers, said: “This event aims to provide employers and others with a fresh look at the issues, as well as opportunities to network.
“Our keynote speakers include Neil Parish MP, who will update on present and future Government strategy. Dr Catherine Loveday will talk about factors affecting the development of the teenage brain, and we will have sessions on safeguarding, supporting NEET offenders and ex-offenders back into the community and curriculum development in training programmes.”
