The aim of this course is to give students the knowledge and confidence to transition out of education and into the world of employment, gaining skills through practical learning. Students will gain vocational qualifications and will be working with a local employer to complete an external work experience placement.

FAQs  

This is an Entry Level course for students aged 16 - 24 years who have an identified learning disability and who would like to progress to employment and/or volunteering in their own community. Areas of study include:

- Individualised work based experience with local employers
- Community team project - identifying and negotiating a team project, planning the project, carrying out the project, and reviewing the outcome
- Enterprise activities – develop and manage an enterprise, producing a product/delivering a service, record keeping, team working and communication skills
- Vocational element - retail, catering and hospitality, gardening, woodwork with embedded IT, English and Maths skills
- Practical marketing and functional IT

This course is currently funded for those aged 19 - 25 with an EHCP.

Partnership with a variety of employers will ensure students have opportunities to experience appropriate work that may be identified through exploring their skills, strengths and vocational profiling.
There will be continual assessment through practical activities. There are no end exams.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, howevern an informal interview is essential.
Opportunity to progress to the Project LIFE internship course and ultimately to employment.

You will experience small group teaching within a supported environment, in a dedicated area within the main campus building.

A wide range of practical facilities are available to students, including the catering kitchen and café with a kitchen and a sensory garden.
