An Apprenticeship could find the Apprentice working in an accounts department, helping a business or organisation manage their money properly. Running a business involves a lot of financial activities, from expenses and bills to taxes and payroll - accountants keep track of all these and more. Accounting apprenticeships are open to anyone who is 16 years or older and not in full-time education.

It takes a business brain, as well as a way with numbers, to get ahead in this competitive industry.

Running a business involves a lot of financial activities, from expenses and bills to taxes and payroll - accountants keep track of all these and more. This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration, covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software.The syllabus content could include:

- Bookkeeping Transactions
- Bookkeeping Controls
- Elements of Costing
- Using Accounting Software
- Work Effectively in Finance

Foundation Certificate Synoptic Assessment
The synoptic assessment will ask students to apply knowledge and skills gained across the qualification in an integrated way, within a workplace context. Scenarios will change over time to ensure the validity of the assessment.
Each unit will be completed with an end of unit exam, all of these exams must be passed fully before the final synoptic exam can take place. The final exam will thread through all of the knowledge gained throughout your course, ensuring everything learnt has been retained.
Four GCSEs at Grade D (or equivalent) or above ideally to include maths and English. You must have secured employment in order to start this programme and have a good basic education. Some employers will ask for GCSEs in English and maths at Level C or above. Enthusiasm for your subject and a willingness to work hard are essential.
AAT Qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare students for the world of work and for working specifically in accountancy and finance roles.

The Foundation Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as:
- Accounts administrator
- Accounts assistant
- Accounts payable clerk
- Purchase/sales ledger clerk
- Trainee accounting technician
- Trainee finance assistant
The course will take place in our inviting classrooms, where your lecturer will provide you with engaging sessions involving SmartBoards and Google Chrome Books.

All AAT students must register with the AAT directly (this will be covered in your first session) to enable you to access the student area of the AAT website. Students who are not registered will not be able to complete the assessments needed to complete the course.
