Your work will displayed as part of our annual Art exhibition.
Joanna Collins, student from 2017 won BTEC Art & Design student of the year at National Awards.
This qualification gives you the freedom to develop your own individual ideas and prepare a portfolio of work for progression. The programme is made up of a range of general art and design and some specialist units.
All students will do the core units that explore drawing, 2D & 3D materials and techniques, researching artists' work, developing ideas and producing finished work. Beyond that, you will be able to explore two more specialist units. Completing this course successfully earns the equivalent of four GCSEs at grade 9-5/4.
You will be given regular feedback about how you are progressing and you will receive either Pass, Merit or Distinction grades for each unit, and also for the overall qualification.
There is no examination for this course as it is continuously assessed and externally moderated.
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.
Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects.
At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
You will be required to bring a portfolio of work to your interview.
Most of our students who are thinking about some aspect of art and design as a career, will choose to progress to the Extended Diploma in Art and Design here at Petroc, as the gateway to Higher Education and the world of employment and apprenticeships.
