Business Administration - Advanced Apprenticeship
Level 3 Vocational
Mid Devon Campus
18 - 24 months
One of the great things about the Business and Administration Apprenticeship is that almost all businesses require these skills and processes.
Administration roles are also an excellent starting point to move into management once more experience has been gained.
This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.
This course allows progression within an organisation, including management opportunities. This is an ideal opportunity for those students who want to develop their business and administration practical skills, learning on the job, as well as undertaking relevant qualifications to formalise their knowledge.
The components of this course are a combined Diploma of the competency and the knowledge and Functional skills at Level 1 to include Maths, English and ICT. These are all delivered 100% in the workplace.
The Diploma requires learners to successfully achieve a minimum of 45 credits. These credits will be completed, through the achievement of the six mandatory units (21 credits) and the remaining 24 credits will be taken from the optional group. This qualification has been produced to meet the changing requirements of learners and employers as it offers both competency and knowledge.
The topics covered in the mandatory unit group include:
- Communication in a business environment
- Principles of providing administrative services
- Principles of business document production and information management
- Understand employer organisations
- Manage personal performance and development
- Develop working relationships with colleagues
The optional units include topics like:
- Manage diary systems
- Produce business documents
- Collate and report data
- Maintain and issue stationery and supplies
- Administer human resource records
- Buddy a colleague to develop their skills
*This is not a full list and there are plenty of options available.
You will be taught the theory to support the mandatory units and then need to complete work books that are assessed as evidence. You will also be assessed in the workplace to provide evidence of your competency skills
Workplace learning will require the completion of a portfolio of evidence; which will be internally assessed and internally quality assured. You will need to demonstrate what you have learned using both practical and knowledge assessments and a mixture of online testing.
Depending on GCSE results you may be required to undertake a Functional Skill in Maths and/or English and ICT. (L2)
Combined Diploma in Business Admin - mandatory units are assessed using mini assignments and some work based assessments
All optional units are assessed in the work place.
You must be employed in the relevant industry for 30 hours per week or more. You must have a grade 4 in English and Maths, as well as three other GCSE qualifications at grade 4 or above.
Alternatively an appropriate/relevant and completed Level 2 apprenticeship or 12 months experience within the job role.
This course can lead onto a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship or the FdA in Business and Administration
As this qualification is delivered in the workplace you will be assigned a personal tutor who will require access for assessments and a quiet area that can be used for theory sessions. You will need to complete your course as an ePortfolio; while they are enrolled at Petroc they will have full access to the college facilities.
