Do you delight in all things business? Then equip yourself with the broad range of business skills this study programme offers. This Business Foundation course is a standalone one year programme but if successful, you can carry forward the units to a 2nd year and complete the Extended Diploma. BTECs embody a fundamentally learner-centre approach to the curriculum.

2017 student, Lucy Jarrett, was honoured at the prestigious Princess Diana Awards.

In the first year, this Diploma offers an introduction to business related topics covering:
- Exploring Business
- Personal & Business Finance
- Developing a Marketing Campaign
- Managing an Event

There will also be two relevant optional units.

You will also take part in an enterprise challenge which is designed to improve your entrepreneurial skills and attend valuable work experience. This is a standalone qualification.

If you are successful and decide to continue for a second year, you will explore more specialist areas such as International Business, Principles of Management as well as Business Decision Making alongside four relevant optional units such as Recruitment and Selection and Employment Law. The qualification includes an exciting work experience placement during your first year.

Assessment is a mixture of course work, mini projects and externally set tasks and one exam. You need no previous business knowledge to succeed on this course.
The programme employs a variety of assessment techniques. These can range from word processed reports to role play, work experience placement, discussions, interviews, presentations and external assessments. Recording equipment is also provided as a means of generating assessment evidence.

All learners are given the opportunity to raise their aspirations and improve their grade profiles by revisiting assignment tasks during the integrated upgrade weeks.
To be accepted onto a two-year Level 3 programme, all entrants must hold at least a grade 4 in GCSE Maths and a grade 4 in GCSE English, as well as at least three other GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above. Certain subjects require a minimum of GCSE grade 6.

Five GCSE at Grade 4 or above - including English and Maths. If you have 4's (or below) in English and Maths on the new grading system will need to have strong Grades 4's and above in other GCSE subjects.
All will be discussed at interview and reviewed on your introductory day.
A level 2 core study programme at merit as well as a successful interview.
Employers will find this qualification valuable because the business skills you will gain are relevant both to the public and private sectors.
Career choices include teaching, car sales, event management, banking, retail management, accountancy, administration and marketing occupations. Employment, progression, higher apprenticeships or Degrees.
This course will also help support employment with management opportunities.
