This qualification aims to give you the knowledge required to work in a range of different environments in a business administrative role. It will help you to develop essential knowledge, and how to apply this knowledge in a variety of industries and job roles.

Unit 1: Principles of providing administrative services
This unit will enable you to develop the knowledge of a range of administrative support tasks. You will be able to describe the different types of meetings and develop an understanding of how to organise travel and accommodation. you will be able to describe the different mail services available and understand the impact of delivering poor customer service.

Unit 2: Principles of business document production and information management
This unit aims to provide you with an understanding of how to prepare and distribute business documents and identify how information is managed in business organisations.

Unit 3: Understand communication in a business environment
The aim of this unit is to provide you with an understanding of the requirements of written and verbal business communication. You will be able to identify appropriate body language and tone of voice when communicating verbally.

Unit 4: Understand employer organisations
This unit develops your understanding of organisational structures and the differences between private, public and voluntary sectors. You will be able to describe the internal and external influences on organisations and why change in the business environment is important.

Unit 5: Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues
The aim of this unit is to provide you with an understanding of the principles of effective team working. You will be able to identify what is expected of a buddy and techniques for providing feedback.

Unit 6: Understand how to carry out business administration tasks
This unit aims to provide you with an understanding of how to deal with incoming and outgoing mail, and reception services. You will gain knowledge of diary systems management, event organisation and systems for financing in administrator roles.

Unit 7: Understand how to prepare text
The aim of this unit is to provide you with an understanding of how to create text from notes. You will be able to explain how to prepare text from recorded notes and describe organisational procedures for storing confidential information.
Each unit is assessed though short answer questions. Assessments are completed online via our online assessment platform or you can request paper-based assessments that you will need to post back to us.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course. This is a knowledge based qualification and therefore a good level of literacy, reading and writing is essential.

You must be over 19 and been resident in the UK or EU country for at least 3 years.
On successful achievement of this qualification you could progress to:
NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Business Administration
NCFE Level 2 Apprenticeship in Business Administration
NCFE Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration
NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Skills for Business: Human Resources
NCFE Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration

You will receive a study pack which contains your learning resources, study plan, study guide and how to access the online assessment platform. If you want to complete paper-based assessment you will have the option to request these when you enrol.

This course is also available fully online - learning materials and assessments
This is a distance / home study course, so you can study at your own pace and at a time to suit you. A subject specialist tutor will be allocated to you and you can email them should you have any questions relating to your course.

It is important that you can work independently and be dedicated to set time aside each week for your studies, we recommend that you allow a minimum of 4 to 6 hours a week. Remember that your study time counts towards your CPD - Continuing Professional Development.

There is no cost for this qualification. However, if you do not complete your course inside the agreed timescale without a valid reason there will be a charge of £100.
