This apprenticeship gives the learner the opportunity to gain a Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years workforce (Early Years Educator) alongside paid employment within a pre-school setting e.g. nursery, crèche, pre-school.
A great opportunity to gain a full Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification, whilst working in a real life pre-school setting.
The qualification confirms competence in Early Years and serves as the required qualification (for all new practitioners) for registration and regulatory requirements in the early learning and childcare sector.
This apprenticeship is suited to pre-school workers who are often working in a supervisory role (but not necessarily) providing care for young children, or nursery teaching assistants delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage within a maintained school setting.
Learners will complete the following:

- English, Maths and ICT Functional skills/GCSE (unless already achieved the required grades within the last 5 years)
Learners will also develop Professional Learning and Thinking Skills. This course also contains elements of Employee Rights and Responsibilities.
Learners will complete knowledge based coursework at College.
Learners will also need to prove their competency by producing witness statements, building portfolios and undergoing assessment observations in the workplace.
Functional skills and GCSE's are assessed by exam.
Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above
GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above is an essential entry requirement
Learners will need to have regular employment in a suitable setting, or find a suitable setting that will support them whilst doing the apprenticeship. You will need prior experience in the Early Years Sector and be employed in a position where you would be able to demonstrate the competencies required of Level 3 learning.
Learners will need an interest in, and commitment to working with children, and be willing to undergo a compulsory Criminal Records Bureau check for suitability of working with children and young people
This course is suited to Nursery workers including Supervisory roles. Petroc currently offer a Foundation Degree in Early Years at Level 4/5 and there is an option to progress onto a Petroc Degree at level 6.
Petroc has a specially equipped Early Years room on it's North Devon site.
Learners will need to provide evidence to complete a Disclosure Barring Services check prior to starting the course. A file, dividers and appropriate stationary will also be required.
