Creative Digital Media Production & Technology - Level 2 - Full-time (North Devon)

This is an exciting new full-time course in Creative Media which is equivalent to three GCSEs. It is an opportunity for you to understand more about the scope of creative media production and develop knowledge about the creative media industries. It is both practical and theoretical.
This course is designed to inspire and enthuse you to consider a career in the creative media sectors and progresses naturally on to our Level 3 course.
You will study two units in the first term that will introduce you to the skills, methods and techniques used in the creative media industry, this will then be assessed and the Award in Creative Media will be graded. You will also study a range of six units assessed internally via portfolio work, these include exploring audio, visual and interactive media and culminates in a personal project which determines your final overall mark for the Diploma in Creative Media Level 2. Topics for projects might include:
- Magazine Design
- The creation of Television & Radio advertisements
- Web Design
- Film Making
- Graphic Design
The final grade is awarded according to the merits of the final extended project unit 8.
Internal assessment allows you to develop a wider range of skills and provide evidence towards meeting the unit assessment criteria. Evidence for assessment can be generated through a range of activities, including role play, verbal presentations, written assignments and creative work like films and videos.
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.
Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects.
At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
You will need GCSE Maths and English Language at grade 3 or above and at least 3 other GCSEs at grade 3 or above. If you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English, you will retake these alongside this programme.

We have an iMac computer suite using Logic/Ableton and a recording studio with access to a wide range of equipment including analogue/digital mixing/recording desks, lighting desks and a comprehensive selection of synth and music technology kit for live and recording-based music production.
Our spacious, creativity-inspiring art studios allow each student to have a dedicated personal work area. In addition, we have specialist workshops and facilities to support a variety of media. These include: A print area, photography studio, iMac computers suite with industry-standard software for graphics, image making, film and animation.
Learning Technologies and Library Services offer relaxed, quiet and comfortable places to study. You will find a variety of private and group study spaces on campus and multiple computers that can be pre-booked. The college WiFi also allows you to bring your own devices to use.
There are always friendly members of staff on hand to help you find information to assist your study, and you can borrow items including books, journals and media equipment in the Library.
