The art of creative make-up for the media industry is an endlessly fascinating field of study. This study programme covers all the practical application of makeup for fashion, film, television and advertising.
Learn the secrets of media makeup for film and television.
You will be introduced to all aspects of media make-up, including:
- Historical hair and makeup
- Full body art
- Catwalk make-up
- Avant garde make-up
- Bridal make-up
- Photographic make-up
You will learn about creative hair design and use of hair additions and wigs. In addition you will look at working in all areas of the industry, blogging, promotion, health and safety, product use and cosmetic evolution.
You will be assessed through an external 2 hour 40 minute examination and by two externally moderated practical examinations covering fashion and photographic hair and makeup, historical hair and makeup and body art. You will be internally assessed and externally moderated on bridal hair and makeup, avant garde hair and makeup, blogging and the evolution of makeup. You will be taught by industry professional staff within our brand new modern commercial salons.
Throughout the qualification we will also be working on the development of your Employability Skills as well as your Maths and English.

To apply for this study programme you must have already completed a full Level 2 in Media Make-up Artistry
Following successful completion of the course you will be invited to continue your studies with us. Should you wish to take an alternative route you can study further and specialise in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy, or apply to attend university, with the relevant entry grades. Equally, you are now ready to work within the industry as an Assistant, to the Senior Make-up Artist.
Our Lifestyle and Tourism Centre is home to our state-of-the-art nail bar, hair salon, beauty salon, tanning room, spa room (including sauna, steam room and hot tub), make-up room and training salons.
You will need to provide evidence of achieving a full Level 2 in Make-up Artistry and any GCSE/Functional Skills Certificates already achieved. You will also need to bring a pen, paper and notebook.
You will be required to purchase a uniform (approx. £50) and a kit (approx. £450).

Q: Will I have to wear a uniform?
A: On your first day, you will come in your own clothes, you will then be expected to wear your uniform in all practical sessions.
