The business world offers no end of exciting career opportunities for anyone with the right skills, knowledge and aptitude.
This wide-ranging one-year study programme is an ideal introduction to business, whether you want to embark on a business career or just keep your options open.
This course will begin in January 2020.
This course is perfect for learners who want to improve their business skills in order to move onto further studies, employment or apprenticeship.
The qualification provides an insight into a broad range of subject areas including:
- Customer service
- Project management
- Visual merchandising
- Business ethics
- Work experience.
The programme gives students the opportunity to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills across the business spectrum.
Learners will also take part in an enterprise challenge which is designed to improve their entrepreneurial and teamworking skills.
Students are also encouraged to complete two weeks work placement.
This BTEC qualification will encourage learners to develop their entrepreneurial know-how by creating a business plan and harnessing the skills which will help them to succeed in future business projects.
You will be assessed through assignment coursework and two externally set exams.
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.
Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects.
At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
Successfully completed Level 1 qualification will also be considered, as would Functional Skills in Maths and English or GCSE's at grade 3 in Maths and English.
Successful learners will have the choice of progressing to the Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Business, other vocational routes or employment in areas such as administration, retail, marketing or finance either from the 'get go' or via an apprenticeship.

Q: Are there any additional costs?
A. There are no specific course costs, although all learners should purchase a data stick. There may be some optional trips or activities will incur an additional cost.
Q: How will I be prepared for the exam units?
A: The course offers individual tailor made support plans in order to allow students to progress and develop the examination based skills needed to succeed
Q: What residential trips are on offer?
A.:Traditionally the college has offered overseas trips including Paris, Budapest, Barcelona and Amsterdam as well as trips and visits closer to home - including London.
