Long-haul flights, cruises, exotic destinations, meeting new and interesting people, no wonder the travel industry is one of the most exciting career options. This course is an excellent stepping stone into this ever changing industry or will allow for progression onto our Travel and Tourism Level 3 course.
In addition to studying for the qualification, this course also includes a practical package of activities which include arranging an event, Flybe visit, hospitality practical skills and an air cabin crew taster.
This nationally recognised BTEC Travel and Tourism qualification is most definitely for you if your dream is to pursue a career in this dynamic sector. The programme consists of a range of travel and tourism related units and a non certificated practical tourism package of activity.

Each unit is assessed through continuous assessment by assignments, which may take various formats such as written reports, practical simulations, presentations and displays. Each unit will be graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction and points awarded for each unit. The final qualification grade will be calculated through the aggregation of points achieved through the individual units.
Two of the units are externally assessed, each requiring a one-hour exam.
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.
Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects.
At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
Successful completion, to Merit or above, can be your route to continuing your studies by progressing to the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Travel and Tourism, to further your skills and knowledge base. Past students have gone direct to the workplace on completion of this course.
Specialised industry publications and resources are used for research for many units. A programme of guest speakers from various sectors and educational visits will support your studies.
