This qualification is aimed at learners that are looking to develop a career in the beauty therapy industry. Learners could progress into employment, or further their studies by taking other qualifications at Level 3.
Techniques used in the beauty business are becoming more and more advanced, so higher level qualifications are becoming ever more valuable to employers.

The qualification covers a very wide range of practical skills and knowledge required for working in the beauty and spa therapy industry.
There are compulsory areas:
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
- Provide body massage
- Provide facial electrotherapy treatments
- Provide body electrotherapy treatments
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Provide dry spa treatments
- Provide individual semi-permanent lash treatments
As well as the practical skill content of this study programme, you'll also be offered the chance to improve your real-world employability skills, to give you the best chance to secure the job of your dreams.
This is a Level 3 programme designed to offer the general range of advanced beauty therapy techniques required by the industry. Additional qualifications are offered alongside to enhance knowledge and employability. Units covered are Health and Safety, Working in the Beauty Therapy Industry, Consultation and Communication, Selling Techniques, and, Personal Health and Wellbeing. The qualification is taught within well-equipped salons and we also have a nail bar.
There will be an end-of-year professional treatment where you can demonstrate your newly acquired skills, and a theory exam.
Assessed activities will include practical work, written assignments and tests.
Your work will be graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction. A Pass is awarded for the achievement of all required outcomes against specified criteria.
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.
Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects.
At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.

Petroc has an excellent training environment for Beauty Therapy with well-equipped salons. Further resources are available within the college to support your studies including the library, IT rooms and resources centre.
