FAQs

Did you know one in four British adults experience at least one diagnosable mental health problem each year? The most common is mixed anxiety and depression, but
there are many other issues which have a huge impact on a person’s life and the people around them. Mental health matters, like dementia, are becoming more and more important in the care industry. This course is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the issues that matter today. It's also really valuable if you simply want to know more about mental health - perhaps because you are caring for an elderly relative, for example.

Within each unit, you will focus on one particular aspect of mental health, such as phobias, eating disorders, stress, dementia and anxiety. Each unit explores the meaning, causes, effects, symptoms and management of that particular aspect and looks in detail at the impact mental health has on a person's family and friends. This will provide you with a better understanding of each aspect and a good idea of what it feels like to experience mental ill-health.
