Paralegal - Apprenticeship (Standard)

Level:
Level 3 Vocational
Course Code:
AB148
Location:
North Devon Campus
Duration:
18 months

Apprenticeship in Law (Paralegal) Trailblazer Apprenticeships were introduced by the government in 2013. The new apprenticeships are based on standards developed by employers, and feature an end point holistic assessment of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that have been learnt throughout the apprenticeship.

Learning takes place mainly during employment through the development of `on the job' skills. However there is an 'off the job' training element which usually takes place away from the immediate pressures of the job but on the employer's premises.

FAQs

The Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice was developed to recognise the growing number of students who are either interested in a short but rounded introduction to Law and Practice or have a specific learning need within an area of Law and Legal Practice.

This qualification consists of five units, which are individually accumulated. The units are chosen from a suite of 19 units in accordance with the qualification rules (see below). Each unit is regarded as a worthwhile achievement in its own right, and certification is available at unit level.

You can choose from a suite of 19 units to build up your Certificate qualification. To achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice, you must achieve five units in accordance with the following rules:
- Unit 1 Introduction to Law and Practice
- Unit 16 Client Care Skills
- Unit 17 Legal Research Skills

Plus one Practice unit (chosen from the nine Practice units options)
The Law unit linked to the Practice unit you have chosen.
All units will be internally assessed by Petroc and in addition apprentices will be required to complete evidence of competence within the workplace. Please see this link to the apprenticeship standards documentation. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apprenticeship-standard-paralegal
