Plastering is a key skill of the construction industry and holding a qualification that proves your skills really counts. This Level 2 Diploma leads on from the level 1, allowing you to further your current skills and learn new techniques, ideal if you would like to go into the plastering trade, or if you are already working in the industry and want to widen your skills.

Learn all aspects of the craft from two coat render to dry lining.


This one year course covers all aspects of the plastering craft: applying two coat render (scratch coat and float coat), applying two coat plaster work (different backgrounds), dry lining, forming openings, floor screeding, fixing coving and fibrous plaster work.

All aspects of the course will be studied through both classroom based theory sessions and practical based workshop sessions. You will have the opportunity to develop your Maths and English skills if you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 in these areas.
Students will be assessed on all units required to achieve this qualification.
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.
Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects.
At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
On completion of this diploma, learners may progress into employment, an apprenticeship or continue studying on a different course within architecture and construction.

Q: Is there any equipment needed to participate on this course?
A: Safety clothing including boots and overalls need to be purchased by the student. Students are also required to provide their own stationery and textbooks, a full equipment list will be provided at interview.

Q: Are there any costs for this course?
A: Students are asked to pay a contribution towards materials and learning resources used in workshops and classrooms. There may also be trips throughout the year which may incur a cost. If your are a 19+ learner there may be course fees, unless you are eligible for a remission. Financial support may be available, if you require further information contact the guidance centre on 01271 338125.
