The programme is divided in to modules of study that cover all aspects of Barbering, including:
- Health & Safety
- Client Care and Communication
- Client Consultation
- Shampoo and Conditioning the Hair & Scalp
- Cutting Men's Hair
- Colouring and Lightening Men's Hair
- Cutting Facial Hair
- Styling Men's Hair
- Competition Work.
Throughout the qualification, a range of theory and practical assessments will support your learning and test your knowledge and skills development. You will be taught by industry professional staff within our brand new modern commercial salons.
Ongoing assessment is by multiple-choice question tests that you complete online, as well as working on clients to gain competency and confidence within this speciality field.
Throughout the qualification, we will also be working on the development of your Employability Skills as well as your Maths and English.
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 or above.
Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects.
At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
Following successful completion of the course, you will be invited to continue your studies with us. For a career within the industry you should progress on to Level 3 Barbering; however, should you wish to take an alternative route, you can study further and specialise in hairdressing. Alternatively, you can seek employment as a Level 3 Barbering apprentice to complete a year's time-served placement.
Our Lifestyle Centre is home to our state-of-the-art nail bar, hair salon, beauty salon, tanning room, spa room (including sauna, steam room and hot tub), make-up room and training salons.
You will need to bring your GCSEs, a pen, notepad and lunch money.
You will be required to purchase a uniform (approx. £50) and a kit (approx. £200).

Q: Will I have to wear a uniform?
A: On your first day, you will come in your own clothes, you will then be expected to wear all black clothing until your uniform arrives. Once you have your uniform, you will be expected to wear this at all times except in GCSE or Functional Skills.
