In May, students on Health & Fitness courses spent two weeks in the Netherlands honing their skills, learning about the Dutch fitness industry and exploring the country.
During their first week they were hosted by Deltion College in Zwolle where they trained alongside their Dutch contemporaries running sessions on British sports such as rugby and learning new skills such as blind football and wheelchair basketball, working with disabled clients.
After a few days in Amsterdam seeing the sights including brushing up on their anatomy and physiology at the Bodyworlds exhibition, the group began a six-day bike ride across the North of Holland. As students took turns to manage the route, group safety and effectively run the tour, this was a chance for them to develop their leadership skills.
Last month, the group hosted an evening for families and staff with displays about their time abroad and what they had learned. Students had clearly relished the opportunity to get involved in so many different activities. As one said: “I have come back refreshed and focussed on the fitness industry”.
The trip was funded by Erasmus+.
