Petroc launches six new courses for September 2017

Petroc is introducing six exciting new courses for September 2017, to give you even more skills to shape your future.

Due to popular demand from the local community, three new A-level subjects and three BTEC courses have been added to what’s on offer at Petroc, giving you the chance to try something completely different. These study programmes are all available to be applied for right now, ready for you to begin studying in September alongside other subjects in our extensive course offering.

Whether you’re into computing, performing or experimenting, here’s more information about the exciting programme

Computer Science A Level
Computing is transforming the way the world works. You can learn the principles and concepts of computer science including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms and data representation, as well as programming and coding.

Drama & Theatre A Level 
This course offers an excellent balance between practical theatre making and the theoretical understanding of drama and theatre. You will study three performance texts representing a range of social, historical and cultural contexts.

Politics A Level
Explore the relationships between governments, people and ideas. This subject links well with history, law, sociology and economics, because the learning in one supports achievement in the other.

Applied Science Level 2
If you’re thinking of a career in science, this stimulating and practical course will give you the skills in all aspects of laboratory science. The programme covers chemistry, biology and physics and will equip you with the skills to work in the industry.

Creative Digital Media Level 2  
This is an exciting full-time course in Media which is equivalent to 3 GCSEs upon completion. It is an opportunity for you to understand more about the scope of creative digital media production and develop knowledge about the creative media industries.

Creative Digital Media Level 3  
This full-time course is equivalent to three A-levels at the end of the second year. Learn more about the scope of creative digital media production in this practical and theoretical course, where you will produce a portfolio and take written exams.
