Steiner talk inspires fitness students to consider cruise ship careers

Fitness and Personal Training students from Petroc have been learning about how to progress their careers and see the world, thanks to leading cruise ship company, Steiner.

On-board Spa Recruitment Manager, Nikki Renshaw, visited the college’s North Devon Campus to speak to Fitness and Personal Training students about life working on-board a cruise ship.

Steiner employs more than 3,000 fitness and beauty professionals each year to work on their cruise ships. The students, if they choose to follow this route and are successful at interview, would attend the Steiner Training Academy and receive training in fitness-based yoga, pilates and Steiner’s own specialised classes, ‘Tour de Cycle’ and ‘Body Sculpt Boot Camp.’

Programme Manager for Fitness, Jane Sharkey, said: “The students discovered how public speaking and sales experience are key employability skills and how, by having these skills, they could earn more money in their role as personal trainers.”
