NCFE Art and Design Level 2 Certificate

You will explore a wide range of working methods and will undertake practices in Fine Art, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture.

This is a certificated course and can lead onto the Access Art and Design course.

Drawing

Would you like to learn to draw or improve your skills but don’t know how to get started? This is the course for you!

Beginners and improvers are welcome in this friendly and supportive environment. Be prepared to work on an easel and to get messy.

Painting with Acrylics

An introduction to acrylics looking at colour mixing, landscapes, figure painting and portraiture.

Darkroom Photography

An introduction to darkroom photography and re-discovering film. This course will involve film processing, experimental image making and using non-digital methods of photography and negative printing.

Digital Photography

A four-week course to support you to get the most out of your digital camera. If you have a digital camera bring it along with you, if not, we do have digital cameras that you may borrow.

The tutor will guide you through the functions of your camera and support you to get the most out of your camera.

Printmaking

This course will explore printmaking techniques and allow you to experiment with mark-making styles. The course will expose you to many different printmaking methods and you will have time to produce work in your preferred style and method.

Guitar for Beginners

You will be taught basic guitar chords and reading tab and learn how to put them together to play songs from different genres.

This course is delivered in small groups, however all students will have the opportunity of one-to-one tuition within the group environment.

Basic Sewing

This course will give you the skills to make basic alterations to your own garments. You will be led through a series of workshops which will help you to get the best out of your sewing machine and teach you to start making your own garments.

Learn to Cook

This course covers basic skills and knowledge and is suitable for anyone with an interest in cooking. The course will cover desserts, dough products, butchery and fish, along with basic kitchen health and safety i.e. food hygiene and knife skills.

First Steps in Computing

This course will increase your confidence in using a computer.

The supportive tutor will help you throughout, from turning on your computer to writing letters, creating posters and spreadsheets, using the internet and so much more.

Next Steps in Computing

Following on from the ‘First Steps in using a Computer’ course, this five-week course covers File Management, Word and an introduction to Microsoft Publisher and Excel, emails and the internet. This is an intermediate course to continue improving your computer knowledge and understanding.

Genealogy

An introduction to the various methods of research for information about your family tree. Store your information about your family tree, share your genealogy with others and develop your genealogy skills further.

Creative Writing

This six-week course will lead to the production of a small, themed short story collection.

Basic Construction

This course will introduce you to some of the skills and trades used in the construction industry. You will be based in our high-quality workshops in this practical-based course.
