This Business Enterprise Start-up course is aimed at anyone who may have already completed a programme of learning and is passionate about starting their own business.

This programme of study may further enhance your generic and essential skill base (business acumen, entrepreneurial skills, starting own business, business planning, pitching, and finance). You will undertake a Level 3 qualification as well and work alongside a local businesses.

Modules include:
– Analyse entrepreneurial and market potential
– Build the business idea
– Developing the marketing approach
– Plan the operations
– Plan the budget
– Create the business plan and pitch

This course will include a rewarding and exciting Industrial Placement element with career and mentoring support. You will also have the opportunity to earn a place within our ‘Entrepreneurial Academy’ and work alongside local business entrepreneurs supporting their business needs as well as gaining support for your business idea and mentoring.

Employability and progression is a fundamental part of this programme and we will support you with your next steps, including setting up your own business.

You will study part-time alongside your work placement.

Course details

Assessments

There is one assignment to complete to gain this qualification. A study logbook supporting work placement activities will need to be completed and signed.



The knowledge, skills and understanding being assessed in this qualification are as follows:

– How to research and build a business proposition

– How to analyse competitors

– How to write a business plan

– How to pitch

– How to plan

– Legal requirements in your country

– What you need to do to raise your skills

– How to manage a business day to day

– How to recognise when things are going wrong

Entry Requirements

To be accepted onto a Level 3 programme, you must hold at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including GCSE Maths and English language.

If you have grade 4 (or below) in English or Maths, you will need to have a strong grade profile of 4/5s and above in other GCSE subjects. We will also take into account previous Further Education (FE) and previous core study programme/A-Level/apprenticeship at Merit would be desirable. Experience will also be taken into account. All of this will be discussed at interview.

Progression

You will gaining support to turn your business idea into a reality. Although there are no UCAS points accredited to this course, it is an additional qualification to add to your portfolio supporting and enhancing future employment prospects.

Facilities and resources

The business programmes take place in newly refurbished rooms, offering students the opportunity to learn in a vibrant and inviting environment. Students also have access to IT suites, chrome books and laptops to help them conduct research and complete coursework.

Q: What happens if I need help with my assignments?

A: All learners are given regular 1:1 support form their lecturers in addition to re-submission attempts to improve and revise assessments.



Q: Is the course delivered on every day of the week?

A: This will be run over more intense period giving learners the opportunity to get part-time work and part take Industrial Placement.



Q: Do I need to buy any text books?

A: All learning materials are provided by the programme team, however, there are text books that mirror the course. These are available to buy, or are free of charge online for all learners. Details will be given in your induction week.



Q: Are there any additional costs?

A: Students undertake a variety of optional trips and activities for which there may be a cost. For example, all learners are given the opportunity to participate in a European/UK residential for which there is a cost. Students will need to print their assignments.



Q: Do I need any previous business experience to study on this course?

A: No previous business experience is required.

– Your academic or vocational qualification.

– Maths and English Language development – if you have not achieved GCSE grade 4 in either of these subjects.

– Work Experience – hours will vary depending on your qualification and course level.

– Sustainability – helping you to identify how you can improve the sustainability of your future employment sectors.

– Personal Development Awards – developing six key areas of personal and employability behaviours to prepare you for the working world.
