Certificate in Youth Work Practice
The Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice aims to support the skills and knowledge needed to become a competent Youth Support Worker. This qualification is designed for anyone already working in a youth work environment, who can deliver operational youth work, and who will carry out supervisory responsibilities for small projects. It aims to provide you with a qualification that embraces National Occupational Standards for youth work.
Units covered in this programme include:
– Theory of youth work
– Safeguarding in a youth work setting
– Young people’s development
– Communication, group work, reflective practice etc.
There are also additional optional units based on your work setting.
You are supported through your course by an assessor who will guide and teach you to produce a portfolio of evidence to show your competence in practice. You will have an assessment of real work activities within your workplace as well as some theory work.
You will be required to be working as a youth support worker who plans and delivers session groups of young people.
You will also need a recent DBS check.
This qualification can lead to the Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work.
Facilities and resources
The course is delivered within the workplace so an area where you can meet with your assessor is beneficial.
Q: Can I change job locations during my course?
A: Yes, if you are carrying out the same responsibilities as before.
Q: How much time will I need to study?
