Diploma in Bricklaying
This course is designed to increase your skills, knowledge and understanding of the construction industry to prepare you for employment. You will study both theory and practical skills.
Units covered in this programme include:
– Health and safety
– Quantities and communication
– Building methods
– Working drawings
– Setting out
– Cavity wall structures
– Constructing solid walling incorporating piers and arches
– Masonry cladding
– Thin joint masonry (theory)
You will undergo progressive theoretical and practical assessments. There are four practical assessments and seven online multiple-choice unit assessments.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, a good understanding of Maths and English will be beneficial. The course is suitable for mature learners who may already have some experience of working in the trade or have completed a Level 1 course.
You will be able to use this qualification to help you gain employment or further your career. You can then progress to an apprenticeship at Level 3, dependent on relevant work experience.
Facilities and resources
Practical sessions will be studied in our specialist trowel trades workshop.
Q: Is there any funding available to help pay for my course?
A: Many of our courses are free to attend (subject to eligibility). We will carry out a fee assessment when you enrolment to establish if you meet this criteria.
