Education & Childcare T Level (Assisting Teaching)
T Levels are designed to produce learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or further study.
NCFE are a leading sector specialist in the early years and this course ensures you can develop into a high quality, skilled practitioner that the early years sector demands. The aim is to develop the threshold competence of learners in key aspects of early years practice.
The course has a number of core units including;
– Observation and Assessment
– Supporting Education
– Special Educational Needs
As well as the core units, you will complete an employer set project to complement the theory and practical aspects of the qualification. This will vary depending on the employer and setting.
An essential component of this qualification is the substantial work placement in a relevant setting. For Assisting Teaching, the minimum number of hours is 315. This is completed in conjunction with your theory assessments and will ensure that at the end of the course, you will have the skills needed by employers in this sector or the qualifications to enable you to progress on to university.
If you want a career working within the education sector, for example in teaching, this would be the course for you.
The assessments may vary. You will undertake two exams and a practical piece of coursework in the 1st year, and practical observations and assessments in the 2nd year. The assessment criteria for this course is rigorous and will ensure you have the skills to take the next steps into employment or higher level study.
To be accepted onto this T Level programme, you must hold at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above. This must include grade 5 in English and Maths.
Science GCSE is preferred for, especially if you are considering going in to teaching.
Once completed, this qualification will open the door to a huge range of possible careers in this sector. You could study further, either at Petroc or at another university, for an Early Childhood Studies or a Teaching and Learning degree. There are opportunities to move into family support work, portage work, or with a children’s charity as well a whole host of careers.
