Our industry experts in music, theatre and dance will help develop your specialist skills in the field of your choice. Live performance is a central part of your practice, with a variety of shows performed at the Landmark Theatre and our Factory music space.

Learning to collaborate and work together creating performance material, your technical performance skills will thrive as you will gain real-world experience of technical production and performance along with the vital skills associated with success, including marketing and promoting your work through social media advertising, how to start a business in the arts and planning for a career in the creative and performing arts.

Units covered on the course will depend on your choice of specialist pathway of either Music or Theatrical Performance/Dance.

Units will include:
– Approaches to Acting (Theatre)
– Understanding Live Sound Design (Music)
– Global Dance Styles (Dance)
– Advertising, Marketing and Promotion
– Managing a Social Media Campaign
– Funding, Finance and Investment for the Creative Arts
– Enterprise and Innovation
– Starting a Business in the Arts
– Career Development

You will also undertake a final industry project including a live performance.

Course details

Assessments

Assessment is based on a series of assignments which combine your knowledge of theory with practice. Presentation of your skills and their development is assessed by live performances.

Entry Requirements

To be accepted onto a Level 3 programme, you must hold at least four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including GCSE Maths and English language.

All applicants will also need to complete a small audition in the discipline of their choice.

Progression

Upon successful completion of this course, you can move on to the Higher National Diploma (HND) Performing Arts.

Our facilities are the best in the South West, with dedicated spaces for dance, music and theatre. Each practice space has an excellent array of professional equipment, lighting, staging and other industry-standard equipment designed to facilitate your success.

Q: Is live performance part of the course?

A: Yes, after developing your specialist skills, you will work as a team to produce a show, it is part of the assessment process and underpins your career development.



Q: Can I use the recording studios and stages to practice out of taught times?

A: Yes, you can use the spaces, they need to be supervised by one of our technicians, so booking is essential.



Q: What are my career opportunities at the end of this course?

A: Many of our learners go on to successful careers in the industry having gained valuable experience in real-world scenarios. Visiting alumni are part of our celebration of learning, so you will meet ex learners and discover how they have made it in the industry.

– Your academic or vocational qualification.

– Maths and English Language development – if you have not achieved GCSE grade 4 in either of these subjects.

– Work Experience – hours will vary depending on your qualification and course level.
