GCSE Biology (Evening)
GCSE Biology provides a firm foundation for developing the key skills required for studying Biology at a higher level or when moving into employment. It is required for many careers including teaching, the Sciences and the Health Sector, and provides a firm foundation for progression to A Level Biology and PGCEs.
This Key Stage 4 course is suitable for any ability, whether you intend to study Biology further or not.
Units covered in the programme include:
– Cell biology
– Organisation
– Infection and response
– Homeostasis and response
– Bioenergetics
– Inheritance, variation and evolution

Assessments
The course is assessed through two final exams of 1hr 45mins, each worth 50%. They consist of multiple-choice, structured, closed short answer and open responses. There are also ten practicals which will be completed in class.
Entry Requirements
You will need a grade 3/D at GCSE biology, or evidence of working at this level. If you have not achieved this qualification, you can sit an initial assessment to check if this is the right course for you.
Progression
This course is suitable whether you intend further study in science or not.
It can open the doors to future careers in medicine, the life sciences, teaching (primary, secondary and FE) and the Health Sector.
Facilities and resources
You will need the GCSE Biology AQA Complete Revision & Practice book by CGP.
You will study in our well-equipped laboratories.
