Managed Learning Programme (MLP)

All Managed Learning Programmes (MLP) that lead to Gas Safe Register will need to comply with the requirements of IGEM/IG/1 standards of training in gas work.

ERS has developed Managed Learning Programmes for new entrants into the industry, the scheme available has six routes of entry as follows:
– Domestic Gas Safety (D1)
– Domestic Gas Safety RPL (D1)
– Commercial Gas Safety (C1)
– Commercial Catering Gas Safety (CC1)
– Domestic Meter Installers Gas Safety (DMI1)
– Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety (LPG1)A recognised route into the gas industry.The training will cover:
– Legislation, Health and Safety
– Electrical safe isolation and testing
– Combustion and its control
– Flueing of gas appliances
– Ventilation
– Pressure, flow, tightness, testing and purging
– Domestic pipework installation
– Installation and servicing of domestic central heating and hot water appliances
– Installation and servicing of domestic cooking appliances
– Installation and servicing of domestic space heating appliances

Course details

Assessments

You will complete a series of training exercises and exams. These will be theoretical and practical based training sessions at our centre. The length of training required will be individually assessed based on your previous knowledge and experience.

Entry Requirements

New Entrants with Relevant Experience or Qualifications will:


– hold a recognised qualification in the mechanical services engineering sector

– undertake on-the-job training and provide work-based evidence under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered installer, this evidence should detail precisely the type, range and volume of gas work carried out

– undertake off-the-job training

– complete MLP assessments


Minimum combined on and off job course duration is 502 hours


New Entrants without Experience or Qualifications:

– new to the gas industry and will be without a recognised qualification or experience

– undertake on-the-job training and provide work-based evidence under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered installer

– undertake off-the-job training

– complete MLP assessments


Minimum combined on and off job course duration is 1,122 hours.

Progression

On completion of the MLP training course and assessments, you can then undertake the ACS assessments to enable you to become Gas Safe registered in the areas of work you have been trained in.
