This course will provide you with the knowledge and skill relating to the installation, exchange, removal and commissioning of gas meters.

You will be assessed in the following areas:
– Gas Safety Legislation
– Installation of pipework and fittings
– Test for tightness
– Checking and/or setting meter regulations
– Identification of unsafe situations
– The Operation and positioning of emergency controls
– Emergency notices and warning labels
– The operation and checking of gas safety devices and controls
– Flue testing
– Installation of open, balanced and fan assisted flue assemblies
– Gas Emergency Actions and Procedures
– Characteristics of combustion
– Ventilation
– Re-establish existing gas supply and re-light appliances

There is a paper-based competency assessment, that you must pass in order to gain the certification.

Entry Requirements

As this is the re-assessment qualification, you must have previously undertaken the initial assessment for MET1.


This re-assessment qualification allows gas engineers to expand their scope of work to include the removal and installation of gas meters.

Facilities and resources

Training takes place in our fully equipped Gas Training Workshop, to provide a realistic training environment.


Q: Is there parking on site?

A: Pay and display parking is available in the car park adjacent to the workshop. There is a charge of £1.20 for the full day.
