Our distance learning courses offer you the flexibility to study where and when you want, at a pace that suits you.
You will be supported through your course by your tutor and our dedicated distance learning team to ensure you receive all the help and encouragement you need.
And, whilst you don’t need to attend college, if you live close to one of our North Devon or Mid Devon campuses, you can also access our extensive libraries and learning resource centres.

*Our Level 2 Distance Learning courses are FREE as long as you meet the eligibility criteria below:
- Learners must be aged 19 or over before the start of the academic year (01/09)
- If aged between 19-24, you must hold a full Level 2 qualification or above
- Resident in the UK or EU country for the past 3 years
- Live in England (excluding postal areas below). If you live in Greater London or West of England please contact us on how to apply.
These courses cannot be funded for individuals currently on an apprenticeship. If you are on an apprenticeship, please contact the Distance Learning office prior to making an application.
From August 2019, educational funding will become devolved to local government in many counties in England, therefore we are unable to offer free courses to the following authority areas: Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Tees Valley and West Midlands. If you are unsure which area you fall under please contact the Distance Learning team.
Please note: These courses are part-subsidised by the Education & Skills Funding Agency and so there is no cost to you or your employer, but if you do not complete the course inside the agreed timescale without a valid reason, you will be charged £125. Only one course can be studied at any one time to qualify for the full fee remission.
