Life in North Devon

The College is situated within walking distance of the centre of Barnstaple and has views of the surrounding countryside as well as the Taw Estuary and Lundy Island. The surfing beaches of Saunton, Croyde, Woolacombe and Westward Ho! are easily accessible and the UK's first Biosphere reserve, Braunton Burrows, is right on the doorstep. Slightly further afield are the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor. If you enjoy outdoor activities there are plenty of opportunities to try sports such as surfing, climbing, windsurfing and hang-gliding. Others may prefer walking on the sandy beaches, cycling on the many cycle routes or horse-riding in the national parks.

Barnstaple itself provides a safe environment, having escaped the high level of risks experienced in large urban environments. Most socialising for students happens off campus in the pubs, bars, and restaurants of the town. Being a manageable size you do not have to spend a fortune getting about the town as the majority of facilities are in walking distance.

If you are interested in studying at a forward looking, friendly college in the South West, then Petroc is for you.
