Alfie Lindo

Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
I chose Petroc because it offered the course that I wanted to do. I also wanted a change instead of staying at the sixth form at my old school.

And what made you pick this particular course?
I’ve always been interested in Science and have been passionate for all three of the Sciences so I wanted to carry on taking Science as I enjoy it very much, and I can see a career in Science for me in the future.

Which elements of your course do you particularly enjoy?
The experiments that we carry out, the fact that its mostly coursework and not test based and also the content that we learn about. I wanted something different from A-levels because tests aren’t suitable for me, so this course is perfect for me.

What have been the highlights so far?
We haven’t been on any trips yet. But the microbiology unit has been my favourite project so far, as carrying out aseptic techniques when growing our own bacteria is what I would potentially like to do in the future.

What do you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
The freedom and the fact we get treated like adults and that I have more responsibility for my learning which makes me want to work harder so I can achieve the grades that I want.

What do you plan to do when you leave college?
I am planning on going to university at the moment. I’m looking at taking biomedicine or pharmacology, but I still have time to decide what course I’d like to take.
