Biography

I knew that I wanted to study Art and Design and with the course being equal to three A-levels I decided it was the course for me.

Throughout my time at Petroc, a highlight for me was our trip to London to visit the V&A.

When studying at Petroc, I remember enjoying the new found freedom compared to school, the art barn had such a relaxed atmosphere. Calling teachers by their names instead of “Miss” or “Sir” made me feel more like an adult and I remember really loving the social aspect of being taught in such a big group of like minded “arty” students.

Since leaving Petroc, I have become a full-time artist. I haven’t looked back and I’m now a successful artist with commissions coming in regularly. I’m also looking into offering private lessons and drawing workshops in the future.

My advice for someone thinking of taking the same course as me is to go for it. I think I worried that I would never be able to make a career as an artist because I often compared my work to that of super successful artists. It took me a while but I think if you have confidence in yourself and what you can produce, the rest just falls into place.
