Chelsea Gibbs

Biography

Chelsea has been at Nirvana in Barnstaple for almost three years. She has been there since the start of her apprenticeship and has found all the team at the salon really supportive.

“I really enjoy making a client feel nice once they’ve had their hair cut. It’s also quite a social job and I definitely like getting to know new people. Apprenticeships are the best way to get into hairdressing, as you’re in college one day a week and then you’re in the salon, so you are learning a lot in both places.

Being in college is really different to being at work but it’s nice to be with different people and socialise with your friends. I also like seeing my teachers as if something happens at work we’re unsure of, we can come in and ask for help. They bridge that gap between college and work if you need help with anything. I feel supported and I know I can succeed because I can go and talk to them about anything.”
