Biography

Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
I enjoyed a school taster day at Petroc. The lecturers were friendly and welcoming and the college had a good atmosphere.

Which elements of your course did you particularly enjoy?
I enjoyed learning new and different things in Further Maths as the course is entirely different to any maths I’d done previously. I also enjoyed the physical aspects of Geography, learning about natural hazards and tectonic processes. In Physics, expanding on GCSE knowledge of circuits and electricity was really interesting as well as doing the practicals to test our theoretical knowledge.

What have been the highlights so far?
The highlights of my college experience were the two trips I went on. The first trip, we went to Bristol for a day and carried out a questionnaire as well as environmental surveys. For the other trip, I went to another school to do a maths challenge. The highlight of that trip was completing maths puzzles in teams.

What do you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
I enjoyed the open schedule the college provided as it gave plenty of time to do independent study between classes or go out for lunch in town.

What do you plan to do when you leave college?
I plan on going to Leeds University to study Civil and Structural Engineering.

What’s the long-term plan?
Long term, after I’ve completed my Master’s Degree I aim to become a Chartered Engineer.
