Biography

I chose Petroc because it had a wide variety of creative courses that were close to home. I’d just completed the Extended Diploma in Performing Arts with D*D*D* and I wasn’t ready to leave home or study at university level as I wanted to gain more skills and qualifications in other creative areas. I’d always been interested in photography, film and graphic design but didn’t want to study A-levels.

Working on my final major project was the highlight for me. We had so much freedom in choosing what we wanted to individually work on. I created my own magazine that was filled with articles I wrote, photoshoots and advertising that I had made. All from the facilities that Petroc provides.

I’m currently studying Graphic Design Communication at UAL Chelsea College Of Arts, in the future I want to either become a creative director for photoshoots and fashion campaigns. Or I want to work as a magazine editor for magazine brands such as: Love, Wonderland or Galore.

My advice for anyone thinking of taking this course is to learn as many new skills as you can! Especially Adobe platforms as the skills you learn at Petroc will really help you once you start university. Also take advantage of the photography studios whilst you have access to them, most universities either don’t have these spaces or if they do have stricter restrictions on you using them.
