Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
I chose to come to Petroc because the course looked really good and wasn’t offered anywhere else local to me.
And what made you pick this particular course?
I chose this course because I love drawing and design while I also wanted to learn how to use more CAD (Computer Aided Design) in my designing. I’m also interested in the construction and built environment side and wanted to learn more about how it’s incorporated into design.
Which elements of your course do you particularly enjoy?
My favourite part of the course is seeing the design projects come to life using manual drafting or CAD after spending ages perfecting and modifying the concepts to turn it into a working building.
What have been the highlights so far?
My highlights of the course have been going on local site visits which help put the theory work into perspective and working on difficult design projects that require lots of research and innovation to find solutions.
What do you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
I enjoyed studying at Petroc because the course and help from my lectures has helped provide me with a career path that I’m passionate and excited about.
What do you plan to do when you leave college?
I’m doing an Architecture BA (Hons) at Falmouth University for three years.
What’s the long-term plan?
My long term plan is to hopefully become an architect in the future and run my own practise.
Any advice for someone thinking of choosing the same course as you?
Advice for someone thinking of taking this course is that although the work is hard and is very demanding, it’s very rewarding and provides lots of different career pathways for the future.
