Petroc is the closest college to where I live, it offered the course that I wanted to study at the same level offered by other colleges/universities over a 2 day period, so it was a no brainer to choose Petroc.
My interest grew in Psychology whilst studying the Psychology module on the Access to HE course. It really piqued my interest and I found the subject fascinating. This being the main reason why I chose to study the Foundation Degree in Psychology.
For me, the highlights have been learning about a whole new subject that really interests me. Everyday you learn something new, interesting and thought provoking. No lesson is the same, everyday is different with different challenges.
After completing this course, I want to complete the third year at Petroc for the Human Behavioural Studies Degree. After that I want to complete my master’s conversion course, whilst still studying toward a counselling diploma (hopefully).
For my long term plan after studying, I would like to work within the mental health sector, maybe counselling, but I’m not 100% sure yet.
My advice for anyone thinking of taking this course is to ask questions and if you’re stuck ask for help. The lecturers are lovely and so knowledgeable and I have found that they are always willing to help you if you ask.
