Results Day 2020

Please find below some important information regarding the release of results this summer.

This year, for the safety and wellbeing of staff and students, your results will be available to view online. You must not come to campus unless you have been asked to do so.

When will I be able to get my Results?

  • GCSE, Functional Skills and Level 1 and 2 results (excluding BTEC) will be released from 08:00 on Thursday 20 August.
  • Level 1 and 2 BTEC results are being delayed; please see information below
  • A-level and Level 3 Vocational results were released on Thursday 13 August.
  • Most certificates will be sent to us from the awarding body in October. We will then send these to your home address at the earliest opportunity. Please make sure you inform the college if you have moved home by emailing exams@petroc.ac.uk.

A-level & Vocational Learners progressing to university:

We have been informed in a letter from the Minister of State for Universities, Michelle Donelan MP, that universities have agreed to honour all offers originally made. Applicants are now advised to re-contact their first choice universities to discuss their option.

We are pleased to say that most of our learners have now had their place at university accepted. If you are a learner who is in need of any further support with your university application from Petroc, please contact Sarah Samuels, Interim Head of Engagement on sarah.samuels@petroc.ac.uk

GCSE Learners:

Petroc learners who are expecting GCSE results on Thursday 20 August will be able to view their results from 08.00 am. These results will be your centre assessment grade or your calculated grade, whichever is higher. No results have been downgraded by the awarding bodies as part of the statistical standardisation process.

Any Petroc learners who have received their GCSE results and have any questions, please email the GCSE team at mygcseresults@petroc.ac.uk

BTEC Level 1 and 2 Learners:

BTEC Level 1 and results have been reviewed and your results can now be viewed by logging into your myPetroc account.  There are a couple of Level 1 courses where overall results are still pending and these are being followed up with the awarding body and will be released as soon as they are confirmed.

Following Ofqual’s announcement that A-level and GCSE students are to receive Centre Assessment Grades, Pearson have reviewed the impact on BTEC students and taken on board feedback from teachers, schools and colleges. Following the review and feedback from schools and colleges, Pearson have decided to apply Ofqual’s principles for students receiving BTECs this summer. BTEC qualification results have been generally consistent with teacher and learner expectations and Pearson want to make sure that you get the right grade for you.

BTEC Level 3 Learners:

BTEC Level 3 results have all been reviewed and your updated results can now be viewed by logging into your myPetroc account.

How can I access my Results?

To view your Results, follow the easy steps below:

  1. Log into your myPetroc account.
  2. Clicking on the alert ‘New results to view’.
  3. From this results page you can see all your results that have been released. You have the option to download a PDF copy as well.

Please check that you can log in to your myPetroc account before results day so that you can access your results without delay when they are released. If you are having any problems logging in to myPetroc please contact ITsupport@petroc.ac.uk

What should I do if my results are not showing?

The results dates only apply to courses where we have submitted calculated grades. If you have continued to complete assessments in an adapted format, then results are not guaranteed to be released on the above dates due to the external quality assurance process that is currently underway. This will include skills specific qualifications like construction, plumbing, electrical, hairdressing, and beauty therapy. Results and certificates for these courses will be released as soon as they are available.

If any assessments have had to be delayed until September, results will be issued once your assessments are completed.

Appeals

Appeals for A-level Results

On Monday 17 August 2020, Petroc was ready and committed to lodge a Centre Level Appeal against all 2020 A-level results. However, at 4pm, the Government announced a U-turn and now Centre Assessed Grades* will be accepted. We feel this is the right and fair thing to do and are pleased that our students can now focus on the next stage of their education in college or university.

*Centre Assessed Grades are grades set by your lecturer, based what you would most likely have achieved if you had sat exams this summer and completed any non-exam assessment.

If you are still unhappy with your grades, your only option will be to re-sit your exams. If you wish to do this, please contact exams@petroc.ac.uk

Deadlines for autumn exam entries to be submitted to the Exams office:

  • A-level – Friday 28 August
  • GCSE (excluding Maths & English) – Friday 4 September
  • GCSE Maths & English – Friday 18 September
