Academic Academy

The Academic Academy is an opportunity for academically gifted students who achieve a combination of top grades at GCSE (7’s, 8’s and 9’s) and who aspire to aim high in their university and career choices.  Through the Academic Academy you will experience being in a specialist tutor group with other like-minded young people, led by an experienced professional tutor.  You will be provided with group and one to one tutorials which will include comprehensive guidance on the UCAS application process to competitive courses at top universities, to enable you to submit a polished application and excel at interview.

In addition you will commit to approximately two hours a week of enrichment as we recognise that application to competitive universities is about more than achieving excellent grades.  The enrichment programme is designed to provide you with experiences and opportunities to benefit your university application.  It includes the study of critical thinking skills to enhance your analytical and evaluative abilities, undertaking an Individual Research Project to enhance your independent research and presentation skills, and recognising and developing your soft skills.  Amongst other activities you will also be encouraged to enter competitions, apply for residential visits/summer schools to top universities, and attend subject masterclasses.
