Petroc Welcomes Interim Principal and CEO, Kurt Hintz
Petroc is pleased to announce the appointment of Kurt Hintz as its Interim Principal and CEO. With over two decades of experience in further education, Kurt brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of excellence in educational leadership.
Kurt began his teaching career as an engineer in further education in New Zealand in 1998, before emigrating to the UK in 2004. Over his 15-year tenure, he has held several senior roles, starting as a Curriculum Director at the College of Haringey, Enfield, and North East London (CONEL) in 2009 and advancing to Executive Principal of the Capital City College Group (CCCG). Under his leadership, CCCG transformed from a “Requires Improvement” Ofsted rating to a “Good” rating in December 2022, with commendations for its “strong” contribution to regional skills. Additionally, Kurt led a financial turnaround, reversing a £10 million deficit within two years.
As the former Executive Principal of CCCG, Kurt oversaw eleven London college sites, serving over 30,000 students with an annual turnover exceeding £120 million. He prioritises a positive organisational culture, focusing on professional development, coaching, and open, transparent communication. Kurt is a passionate advocate for the impact of further education on communities and has championed the integration of educational technology, driving digital transformation across the sector.
Kurt co-presents the “Boundless” podcast series with MKAI, which explores AI, leadership, and the future of further education, showcasing his commitment to advancing educational technology and innovative practices. He also serves as a trustee for OCN London and Ambitious about Autism, reflecting his dedication to inclusive education.

Outside of work, Kurt is a devoted father to his 12-year-old daughter, drawing inspiration from her curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
