learn the skills you need
A Levels are Level 3 subjects which are taken over two years. We also offer AS Levels, which are typically studied over one year and can provide a standalone qualification or form part of a full A Level programme. These qualifications are ideal if you enjoyed a subject at GCSE and want to continue to study it at the next level - and maybe at university in the future.
A Level courses are suitable if you enjoy a more academic style of learning. They develop the knowledge, skills and study habits needed to excel at university - as well as the attributes recognised by employers worldwide.
Most students identify three subjects that they are interested in studying. Alternatively, you might decide to combine two A Levels with one BTEC option (for example Sociology, Biology and BTEC in Sport).
Your academic studies will be complemented by a wide range of enrichment opportunities and you will be encouraged to get involved in one of our Academies to further develop your knowledge and understanding. This includes the Reach Academy, designed for academically ambitious students aiming for top universities through lectures, residential experiences, work experience and enrichment activities supported by organisations including the Met Office.
You may also choose to undertake an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) alongside your A Levels, helping you develop valuable research, project management and academic writing skills that are highly regarded by universities and employers. In addition, A Level students study an Extend option as part of their programme - a flexible fourth element offering opportunities such as an additional A Level, enrichment courses or specialist pathways tailored to individual interests and future progression plans.
We also offer our Excel Programme. This equips second-year students for examinations by identifying and addressing academic gaps through targeted collaboration with tutors, delivered in scheduled sessions within a dedicated environment.Â
Some universities can be very specific about the A Level subject combinations required for entry onto courses, so when you are deciding what subjects to choose, it’s a good idea to check what combination is right for you and your next steps. We can offer advice and guidance to help you choose the subjects that are right for you and your future.
Every A Level will have its own entry requirement; take a look at each course for further information.
