Royal Navy Put Students To The Test And Share Career Insights

We recently welcomed Kieran and Ryan from the Royal Navy for an inspiring and interactive day with students from Hospitality & Catering and Public Services.

During the visit, students learned about the wide range of career opportunities available within the Royal Navy, gaining valuable insight into the diverse roles, training pathways and experiences on offer. Kieran and Ryan shared their own career journeys and provided an engaging overview of life in the Navy, helping students explore future career possibilities and broaden their understanding of the sector.

The day also featured an exciting Ready, Steady, Cook-style competition for Hospitality & Catering students. Working in teams, students were challenged to create both a main course and a dessert, putting their culinary skills, creativity and teamwork to the test under pressure.

Taking on the role of judges, Kieran and Ryan sampled each team’s dishes and were impressed by the high standard of cooking on display. After careful deliberation, they selected the winning team, celebrating the students’ hard work, innovation and presentation skills.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to combine practical learning with real-world industry engagement, while enjoying a fun and memorable experience. By connecting with professionals from the Royal Navy, students were able to gain first-hand insight into potential career pathways and develop a greater understanding of the skills and qualities valued by employers.

North Devon College would like to thank Kieran and Ryan for taking the time to visit and inspire our students. Their enthusiasm and support helped make the day both educational and enjoyable, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.
