Biography

What subject do you teach?

I teach Chemistry A level and BTEC Forensic Science.

 

What can students expect from these courses?

Students can expect engaging, challenging, and hands-on courses that combine practical learning with an enjoyable and supportive environment. Through interactive activities, real-world applications, and opportunities to develop new skills, the courses are designed to build confidence, encourage curiosity, and make learning both rewarding and fun.

 

What’s one skill every student will leave your subjects with?

Every student will leave these courses with a strong analytical eye for detail. They will develop the ability to observe carefully, think critically, and evaluate information with confidence. These skills will help them solve problems, make informed decisions, and apply their learning effectively in both academic and real-world contexts.

 

What’s a top tip for students starting North Devon College in September?

Understand the level to pitch your efforts at quickly from initial assessments & classwork to get the best from the course & yourself.

 

If your subject had a theme song, what would it be?

The Periodic Table song (by Tom Lehrer).

 

If the fire alarm was to go off, what is the one item you would take with you?

You’re not supposed to carry anything out on fire alarm but if it was to hand, my knitted T-Rex (present from students past).
