The Taw Restaurant in Barnstaple is a unique dining experience boasting fine views of the Taw Estuary. All of our menu items are, where possible, locally sourced and made from fresh ingredients; from Artisan bread to homemade ice cream. To complement our dining menus The Taw has a fully licensed bar, a full wine list and a range of barista drinks. Our trainee chefs and front of house team are supervised by a passionate brigade of highly trained catering professionals.
The Taw can also host private functions or corporate events with additional meeting facilities available.

The Taw is open for lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in term time from 12noon (last orders 1.15pm).

Chefs' Charity Dinner - 29 January
The Taw will be hosting a charity dinner for Children's Hospice SW in partnership with some of South West’s great chefs. Chef's will incude Head Chef for Lewtrenchard Manor, Tommy Browning; the Head Pastry Chef from Saunton Sands, Andrea Santos; Head Chef Jamie Coleman from The Beach at Bude; and Dez Turland, Executive Chef for the Brend Group. The line-up of guest chefs will be showcasing their skills alongside our catering students to deliver a four-course tasting menu. These events have proven to be very popular previously and the feedback regarding the food has been excellent. Booking is essential.
An Evening with Mark Dodson - 4 February
The Taw is proud to announce an evening with the highly acclaimed Michelin starred chef Mark Dodson and some of his kitchen team; all of whom are former Petroc students. During the evening, Mark will be sharing his culinary skills and knowledge with some of our catering students. This special evening will also include canapes on arrival.
Taste of the Funfair - 28 March
Students from the Foundation Degree in Business and Events are hosting a "Taste of the Funfair” event at The Taw restaurant on 28 March. The event will include an opening performance, stilt walkers and lots of fun and games. Food will include a build your own burger and an interactive dessert with fill your own doughnuts and decorate your own cake pop. This is a family fun event suitable for all ages.
