The 2000 Futures campaign has demonstrated what is possible when education, employers and learners work together with a shared ambition. Not only has the campaign met its original goal, it has exceeded it - delivering 2,142 meaningful employer and industry engagement opportunities that are already making a tangible difference to learners across North Devon College.

These opportunities span the full learner journey, including work experience placements, T Level placements, supported internships, industry talks, group work experience, and site visits and workplace tours. With 902 opportunities already actioned or completed, learners are gaining first-hand exposure to the world of work, developing confidence, building employability skills and exploring real career pathways across sectors such as construction, education, health and social care, nursing and the public sector.

The campaign’s success has been driven by the strength of our partnerships. To date, 279 employers have pledged their support or have actively engaged with learners, from hosting placements to delivering industry insight and opening up their workplaces.

While this marks the formal close of the 2000 Futures campaign, it is not the end of the journey. North Devon College will continue to take employer pledges through to 2026. Our focus now moves beyond counting opportunities to converting pledges into high-quality, meaningful experiences, and ensuring learners are fully supported to benefit from them.

This next phase is about building relationships with employers, aligning opportunities with curriculum needs, and supporting learners every step of the way - from preparation, through placement, to progression into employment, apprenticeships or further study.
