Petroc Takes Home The Gold at Annual Army Challenge 2025
Last week, Petroc’s Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services students took part in the annual Army Challenge competition hosted at Duchy College.
The event, run by the British Army, brings together students from FE and sixth form colleges across Cornwall and Devon to test their teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills through a series of military-inspired challenges.
The Army Challenge is designed to stretch and inspire young people preparing for future careers in the Armed Forces or Public Services, with each activity day focused on teamwork, communication, and resilience, all while having fun.
Throughout the two days, students competed in a wide range of practical and mentally demanding tasks, including:
- Airsoft shooting at precision targets
- Patrol lane exercises testing observation and tactical awareness
- Archery and grenade throw accuracy challenges
- Tourniquet application and first aid skills
- STEM-based problem-solving tasks
- Team-building activities designed to develop leadership and cooperation
After two days of strong competition, Petroc students achieved outstanding results:
- 🥇 Tuesday 14th October – Level 3 Year 1: 1st Place Winners – Petroc
- 🥉 Wednesday 15th October – Level 3 Year 2: 3rd Place – Petroc
These fantastic outcomes mark Petroc’s best performance in the Army Challenge in recent years, showcasing the dedication, teamwork, and professionalism of our students.
The trophy for the Level 3 Year 1 first-place win will proudly take its place in the college’s trophy cabinet, and arrangements are being made for it to be engraved to mark this memorable achievement.
Congratulations to all the students who represented Petroc with pride and determination, and a big thank you to the staff who supported them throughout the event.
