Certificate In Engineering Technology Level 1

The Level 1 Certificate in Engineering Technologies covers basic knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a wide variety of careers and study routes.

The course takes a hands-on approach to basic engineering training by providing learners with:
– Experience and understanding of a range of potential careers in the engineering sector
– Information that will help them make more informed decisions about their post-16 options
– Personal skills to help them work effectively and achieve their potential
– Transferable skills and skills that are not widely advanced through the traditional academic curriculum, which are applicable to a wide variety of
contexts and learning objectives

Assessments

The units you will cover will be:



Mandatory Unit – Assignment

– Introduction to Working in Engineering



Four other Units – practical and assignments

– Introduction to Cutting, Forming and Assembling Engineering Materials

– Introduction to Joining Engineering Materials

– Introduction to Basic Maths and Science used in Engineering

– Introduction to Computer Aided Drawing (CAD)

Entry Requirements

You must hold four GCSEs at grade 2 or equivalent (or above), including Maths and English.

Progression

Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress onto:

– Level 2 Engineering

– Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeship

– Light Vehicle Maintenance

Facilities and resources

Our Engineering Centre of Excellence is a specialist training and assessment facility for engineering and manufacturing students. The building includes high-tech CAD facilities, 3D printing, electronics design and assembly, a fabrication and welding workshop, CNC and manual machining and a bench fitting workshop.

– Your academic or vocational qualification.

– Maths and English Language development – if you have not achieved GCSE grade 4 in either of these subjects.

– Work Experience – hours will vary depending on your qualification and course level.

– Personal Development Awards – developing six key areas of personal and employability behaviours to prepare you for the working world.
