AAT Diploma in Accounting

The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting offers technical training in accounting, providing you with the specialist knowledge and skills required for progressing into a career in accountancy and finance. It is suitable if you wish to study part-time alongside employment, or if you are already working in finance.

The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns, accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and final accounts. You will also understand business issues regarding value added tax (VAT), management accounting costing techniques and ethical practices for accountants. This qualification further delivers software skills through spreadsheet training for accounting.

Units covered in this programme include:
– Financial accounting: Preparing financial statements
– Management accounting Techniques (including spreadsheets)
– Business awareness
– Tax processes for business

Completion of this qualification will provide you with an opportunity to be registered as a qualified bookkeeper.

The course will be assessed by computer-based exams.

Entry Requirements

Generally, it is expected that learners wishing to undertake this qualification will have already completed the Certificate in Accounting Level 2 or equivalent which can be discussed at Interview.

Progression

The accountancy skills developed through this qualification will enable you to progress to the next level of learning, such as the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting. Alternatively, you could seek employment in roles such as an accounts assistant, an accounts payable clerk, a credit controller, a payroll supervisor, a bookkeeper or a tax assistant.

Q: What qualifications will I aim for?

A: You may choose to progress to the Diploma in Accounting Level 4.



Q: Are there any additional fees?

A: No but you may wish to purchase additional support materials. There are course books available for each module and Petroc can provide a discount code for these.



Q: Is there any funding available to help pay for my course?

A: Many of our courses are free to attend (subject to eligibility). We will carry out a fee assessment when you enrol to establish if you meet this criteria. More information can be found via our Guidance Centre.
