Exciting New Arrivals at Petroc’s Animal Care Centre!

Petroc’s Animal Care Centre is celebrating a fantastic achievement with the successful breeding of emerald tree skinks, alongside the arrival of new baby fire salamanders.

These new additions mark a milestone in the centre’s ongoing commitment to animal husbandry and education.

The breeding success of the emerald tree skinks, with their striking green scales and lively behaviour, showcases the skill and dedication of the Animal Care team. At the same time, the tiny fire salamanders, already showing their distinctive yellow and black markings, are bringing extra excitement to the facility.

For Petroc’s Animal Care students, these arrivals offer an invaluable hands-on learning opportunity. Working with newborn animals from their earliest stages of life, students will gain experience in caring for them as they grow, studying their development and behaviour along the way. From feeding and habitat management to health monitoring, the chance to raise these animals into adulthood will provide students with a deeper understanding of the care and responsibility involved in animal management.

The Animal Care team have expressed their pride in the achievement, noting that it not only strengthens the educational experience for students but also contributes to broader conservation and welfare efforts.

These little newcomers are already making a big impact, and both staff and students are looking forward to watching them thrive at Petroc’s Animal Care Centre.
